Mirraloke observed the country’s 78th Independence Day and the 152nd birth anniversary of Sri Aurobindo on 15th August 2024. Teaming up with a parent of one of their friends at Mirraloke, he children of Mirraloke participated in a poster making activity on the theme “independence” – inwardly insightful independence, each team choosing any one of four different lines from songs on the theme independence by poets Rabindranath Tagore, Kaji Nazrul Islam, Mohini Chowdhury and Rishi Panda. The recent gruesome incident that happened in Kolkata and the aftermath has made an impact on their minds was found from their queries to their guides at Mirraloke (to the extent that they had asked questions on what was ‘rape’, to which Mirraloke guides are responding by holding sessions on the need of the hour of bringing emphatically to the foreground, Sri Aurobindo’s thoughts on education to prepare conscious human beings and not inferior types of asuras). The poster prepared by the team Adrika Saha and Tania Khasnabis (mohter of Mohul Khasnabis) was given an award (saplings of a flowering plant to the team duo) by Sri Chhandok Majumdar, assistant professor at Rabindra Bharati University, who came as a guest. Other eminent guests who visited were Smt. Sutapa Chowdhury, Principal of Holy Mission School, New Alipore and musicians visiting from Chittagong, Bangladesh, Sri Ranadhir Das and Sri Ritan Kumar Dhar with Sri Sudip Chattopadhyay, from Howrah. Prasad was distributed to all at the end.
